Julian Cautherley

Julian is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker whose projects have participated at Sundance, Berlin, SXSW, Tribeca Film Festivals and have been twice been shortlisted for the Academy Awards. As producer, his award-winning documentary The Crash Reel follows the dramatic fall and rise of snowboarder Kevin Pearce a traumatic brain injury survivor. Directed by two time Oscar nominated filmmaker, Lucy Walker, the film premiered at the Sundance film festival and was nominated for a Gotham Award and a DGA Award among others. On theatrical release in 2017 is Buena Vista Social Club: Adios, which revisits with the remaining original members of the Buena Vista Social Club and explores their contribution to the unknown history of Cuba. Forthcoming releases in 2017 include the fiction feature Never Here starring Mireille Enos (The Killing, World War Z) and Sam Shepard (The Right Stuff, Black Hawk Down), which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Released in 2015 on HBO is The Lion's Mouth Opens an award-winning documentary about Huntington's Disease that premiered at Sundance and was on the Academy Awards short documentary shortlist in 2014. Previous projects include the award-winning fiction feature Greencard Warriors in which the promise of a better life is shattered when two families are confronted with the brutal reality of raising their children in Los Angeles. Tackling immigration issues the film stars Vivica Fox and Manny Perez. Other projects include the VR experience A History of Cuban Dance, which premiered at Sundance 2016 in New Frontiers. It is produced with Vrse.works, Chris Milk and directed by Lucy Walker. Originally from Hong Kong, Julian is partner/founder at Good 'n Proper, a production and management company.
