Tracey Trench has produced and overseen a range of film, television, theater, documentary and digital content. These productions have grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. She has worked with every major Hollywood studio and several television networks. She brings a strong background in running companies, managing productions, finding franchise concepts, and discovering under-served, emerging audiences. Tracey graduated from Harvard University with an honors degree in Social Anthropology. At Harvard she developed a fascination for China, and moved to Beijing in her early twenties, teaching English and learning Chinese. She later returned to the U.S. to earn an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. For three years, she lived in Shanghai as Head of Creative Development for Oriental Dreamworks - where she laid the foundation for a slate of live action and animated films, television and co-productions. She also initiated a short form digital content initiative, developing a slate of shows for a Chinese youku channel aimed at 18-25 year olds. Tracey has been a liaison between the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Hollywood. She has spoken on numerous panels at the American Film Market, and at the Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong International Film Festivals. She has lectured at the Communications University of China, Beijing Film Academy, Harvard Business School and UCLA's Graduate Producers Program. And she was the Grand Judge for the inaugural Beijing International Screenwriting Competition. She started her career at Creative Artists Agency in Hollywood. She then became a studio executive at Twentieth Century Fox. There she helped develop and nurture the idea of franchise family comedies, including the original "Power Rangers" movies. During this time, she also financed and produced the award-winning documentary "Fear and Learning at Hoover Elementary," about a ten-year-old immigrant girl in L.A.'s poorest neighborhood. The film won the Freedom of Expression Award at the Sundance Film Festival, an Emmy nomination, and the DuPont-Columbia Award - given out by the Pulitzer Prize committee. It is also listed by the Rockefeller Foundation as one of the top ten films on American race relations. Her skill at producing rich, commercial stories on limited budgets impressed then top Fox executives Peter Chernin, Bill Mechanic and Chris Meledandri who offered her the opportunity to produce the Cinderella-themed film "Ever After." The film was shot in the medieval Perigord region of France, starring Drew Barrymore. It was a complicated shoot that involved actors and crew from five countries, international sales/lease-back deals and other production complexities. Tracey delivered the film on time and on budget. It became a sleeper hit for Fox, grossing over $100 million worldwide in 1998 and launching her producing career. Tracey continued to produce films for Disney and Fox and soon after became President of Robert Simonds' company. Together, they set a goal of exploiting the under-served four-quadrant comedy market, producing a number of films including the comedy hits "The Pink Panther," "Yours, Mine and Ours," "Cheaper by the Dozen," "Herbie, Fully Loaded," and "Just Married." She later joined the Lead Producers team that took the classic Albert Maysles documentary 'Grey Gardens' and turned it into a Broadway hit. The show won three Tonys. She also produced TV reality pilots for Bravo and Lifetime and developed a number of scripted shows before moving to Shanghai with Oriental Dreamworks. Now back in Los Angeles, Tracey is combining her experience in China with her wide-ranging skills as a producer to develop franchise, high concept ideas with great characters that can be exploited internationally in merchandising, theme parks, location-based entertainment and other ancillary markets. Tracey continues to work in film, television and digital in Hollywood and with a special focus on Asia, while also expanding her business to other international markets. She is excited by business opportunities and ideas that allow her to use her story-telling skills and cultural insights to both source and create entertainment for the world.
