Jens Meurer moved to South Africa when he was 12. He studied at Balliol College in Oxford, England, at Sciences-Po in Paris, France and at Columbia University, New York, USA. He received the European Academy Award as 'Documentary Filmmaker Of The Year' 1995. He is currently serving as a member of the German Government Advisory Group on film finance. Jens directed and/or produced more than twenty films in Russia and the former Soviet Union. His first proper job was as a sports reporter and sub-editor on the 'West Rand Times' in Krugersdorp, South Africa.
