Chris Masterman is a TV weather presenter past his prime. One day, his job sends him to Broome, in the heart of the Australian outback. By accident, he hits a kangaroo joey with his car, and when he seeks help, he meets 11-year-old Lilly, who immediately takes care of the injured animal. They become friends, and their attempts to rescue more kangaroo joeys form the main story of this family comedy.
