The Pacific er en episk miniserie i ti dele, baseret på virkelige hændelser. Serien følger tre amerikanske marinesoldaters odyssé – Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge og John Basilone – på det store lærred i the Pacific Theater under Anden Verdenskrig. Vi følger disse mænd, og andre marinesoldater, fra deres første kamp på Guadal-kanalen i 1942, gennem regnskoven i Cape Gloucester, over højborgen Peleliu, på tværs gennem de blodige landskaber, Iwo Jima og Okinawa, og endelig på deres triumferende, men urolige hjemtur, efter V-dagen i 1945. The Pacific er produceret af Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg og Gary Goetzman.
